October 1, 2016
What is bushfire arson & reckless fire activity?
Bushfire Arson: Say Something is our awareness campaign in conjunction with Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police.
We’re encouraging you to join us to take a stand against deliberately lit bushfires.
It is concerning many bushfires experienced during Tasmanian summers are deliberately lit. A deliberately lit fire is a serious crime.
Bushfire Arson: Say Something is our awareness campaign in conjunction with Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police. It aims to:
- Gather intelligence around person/s involved in deliberately lit bushfires
- Raise awareness of the potential danger and devastation these fires can cause
- Remind the community to be observant and vigilant across bushfire season
Information provided by the community may lead to an arrest, charges being laid, search warrants or become part of intelligence data. Therefore, detail is very important: the more accurate the information, the better the result. Someone in our community will often have information about deliberately lit bushfires. Every piece of information helps.
Help catch bushfire arsonists before they strike. Remember to never put yourselves or others at risk in order to obtain information.
Be vigilant this summer and if you have any information about a deliberately lit bushfire or about someone lighting fires, call Crime Stoppers free of charge on 1800 333 000.
